• The Golden Key

    Grimm's Fairy Tales
Snowflakes were dancing all around when a little boy, wrapped up as warmly as he could be, set off into the woods. It was a very, very cold day, and the ground was frozen hard. He needed to gather firewood to keep his small cottage warm.

He shivered and his nose felt like an icicle. After a while, he decided to make a small fire right there in the snow to warm his hands. So, he began to clear a patch of snow.

As he scraped away the white, fluffy blanket, his little shovel hit something hard. Clink! What was that? He dug a little more, and there, shining brightly against the white snow, was a tiny, golden key!

"A key!" he thought, his eyes wide with wonder. "If there's a key, there must be a lock somewhere!"

He felt a new burst of energy, forgetting the cold for a moment. He started digging again, right where he found the key. He dug and dug, and soon, his shovel hit something else. Thud! This time, it was a small iron box.

His heart beat a little faster. Could it be? Was this the lock for his golden key? He picked up the iron box. It was heavy for its size. He looked for a keyhole. Yes! There it was, a tiny little hole.

With trembling fingers, he took the golden key and carefully put it into the keyhole. He turned it... and click! It fit perfectly!

Now, he just had to lift the lid. And we must all wait very patiently until he has unlocked it completely and opened it up to see what wonderful things are inside.
