• The Storm

    Andersen's Fairy Tales
One bright morning, the sun smiled down on a little blue flower. This little flower loved to sway in the gentle breeze and chat with the busy bees.

But then, a change began. The sky, which was so blue, started to put on a grey coat. Big, fluffy clouds, looking like sheep that had rolled in grey paint, gathered together. "Hmm," buzzed a bee, flying quickly to its hive. "Looks like a big shower is coming!"

The little blue flower shivered. A tall, strong oak tree nearby rustled its leaves. "Don't you worry, little friend," said the oak tree in its deep, calm voice. "Storms come and go. Just hold on tight."

Soon, a gust of wind, let's call him Mr. Whoosh, came rushing through the garden. He whistled and howled, trying to play tag with the leaves. The little blue flower bent down low, its petals closed up tight. Then came the rain! First, it was a gentle pitter-patter, then a louder DRUM-DRUM-DRUM on the leaves and the ground.

The little blue flower felt the cool drops. It was a bit scary, with Mr. Whoosh blowing and the rain drumming so hard. But the big oak tree stood firm, its wide branches acting like a giant, leafy umbrella for many small creatures hiding underneath.

After a while, Mr. Whoosh seemed to get tired. His huffing and puffing became softer. The rain slowed down to a gentle sprinkle and then stopped. The grey clouds began to part, like curtains opening after a show.

A little ray of sunshine peeked out, then another, and another! The little blue flower slowly opened its petals. Everything around looked so fresh and clean! The air smelled sweet. And guess what? A beautiful rainbow arched across the sky, full of bright colors.

"See?" rumbled the old oak tree gently. "The storm has passed. And now, everything is washed clean and ready for more sunshine." The little blue flower stretched its stem, feeling refreshed and happy. The storm had been a bit wild, but it made the sunny sky afterward seem even more wonderful.
