• The Nine Worlds

    Norse Mythology
The universe wasn't always like a big, starry blanket. A long, long time ago, even before the first star twinkled, there was mostly a giant, quiet space.

But not totally quiet! On one side, imagine a land called Muspelheim, super hot and fiery, like a giant volcano party! Sparks flew everywhere. On the other side was Niflheim, a land of chilly mist and slippery ice, where everything was frosty and quiet.

Then, something amazing happened! Right in the middle of everything, a gigantic, magical tree started to grow. It was called Yggdrasil, the World Tree. Its branches stretched so high they touched the sky, and its roots went down, down, down. This tree held everything together.

And on this tree, there were nine special worlds!

Way up high, in the sunny top branches, was Asgard. This was the home of the strong and brave gods, like Odin, the wise king with one eye, and Thor, who had a super-strong hammer that made thunder! To get to Asgard, you had to cross a sparkling rainbow bridge called Bifrost.

Just below Asgard, protected by the gods, was Midgard. This is where humans lived! It was a world full of green forests, blue oceans, and tall mountains, a bit like our world.

Not too far away was Jotunheim, the land of the giants. These giants were really, really big! Sometimes they were friendly, and sometimes they liked to play tricks on the gods.

Then there was Vanaheim, another home for a different group of gods called the Vanir. They were very good with nature and magic, and loved peace and growing things.

Imagine a place filled with shimmering light and beautiful, graceful beings – that was Alfheim! The light elves lived there, and they were known for their beauty and magical songs.

Deep down, under the earth, in the roots of Yggdrasil, was Svartalfheim. This was the home of the dwarves. They were master builders and crafters, making amazing treasures, tools, and magical items in their underground workshops.

And even further down, in the deepest, darkest roots, was Helheim. This was a gloomy, shadowy place ruled by a queen named Hel. It was where people went after they died if they weren't brave warriors.

The fiery Muspelheim and the icy Niflheim were also counted among these worlds, the very first ones to exist!

So, Yggdrasil, the giant World Tree, held all these nine amazing and different worlds in its branches and roots. Each one was unique, with its own special people and stories, all connected by the great tree.
