• The Trojan Horse

    Greek Mythology
Way back, in a time of heroes and adventures, there was a beautiful city called Troy. It had super tall, strong walls, and nobody could get in unless the Trojans let them.

Now, some folks called the Greeks had been trying to get into Troy for a very, very long time – like, ten whole years! They were having a big disagreement with the Trojans, and they just couldn't get past those walls. They tried climbing, they tried pushing, but nothing worked. The Trojans just stayed safe inside.

One day, a super-duper clever Greek named Odysseus had an idea. "Hmm," he thought, "what if we give them a giant present?"

So, the Greeks got busy. They found lots of wood and built a giant, enormous, super-big wooden horse. It was so big, it had a hollow belly! And guess what? A bunch of the bravest Greek soldiers, including Odysseus, quietly climbed inside. Shhh! It was a secret.

Then, the rest of the Greek army pretended to give up. They packed their ships and sailed away, but they only hid just around the corner, out of sight. They left the giant wooden horse standing on the beach right outside Troy.

When the Trojans woke up, they saw the Greeks were gone! And there was this huge wooden horse. "Wow!" they said, "The Greeks have left! And look at this amazing horse!"

They all came out of the city to look at it. Some Trojans were a bit suspicious. "Hmm," said one wise old Trojan, "this looks a bit fishy. Maybe it's a trick!"
But most of the Trojans were so happy the long disagreement was over. "Nonsense!" they cheered. "It's a gift! A victory prize! Let's bring it into our city!"

So, with a lot of pulling and pushing, they dragged the giant wooden horse through the city gates. They were so excited! That night, the Trojans had a big party. They sang and danced, thinking they had won.

Later, when everyone in Troy was fast asleep, the city was very quiet. Then, a little door in the wooden horse’s belly creaked open. Tiptoe, tiptoe, out came Odysseus and the Greek soldiers!

They snuck over to the main city gates and swung them wide open. Then they gave a signal, and guess who came sailing back? The whole Greek army! They rushed into the open gates.

The Trojans were completely surprised! And just like that, because of a very clever trick with a giant wooden horse, the long, long argument was finally over, and the Greeks had found their way into Troy.
